Asuka no Himemiko is a daughter of Naka no Ohye no Miko and Tachibana no Iratsume, a daughter of Abe no Kurahashi Maro. Although not so many episodes about her are recorded in the chronicles and she didn't do outstanding things, she seemed to be a person of considerably high position, because it is recorded that Jito Tenno visited her when she got sick, and that Kakinomoto no Hitomaro, a famous poet in this period, produced a long lament poet for her when she passed away.
中大兄皇子と阿部倉梯磨呂の娘、橘娘との娘。彼女のことはあまり記録にもなく、目立ったことをした人ではなかったが、持統天皇の訪問を2度も 受けたり、病気にかかった折に天皇から盛大な見舞いがあったりしたことや、亡くなったときは柿本人麻呂から長い挽歌が詠まれたりしたことなどからみても、 彼女は実は相当高い身分だったことがうかがわれる。
